As part of my planning for my internship and my work in ET 680, I analyzed my school and staff according to Ely's 8 Conditions for Change, which led me to the conclusion that the conditions for change were not currently present at my school.
I also considered the ACOT Model as it applied to my school and determined that, with few exceptions, my school was currently in the entry stage of the model. I subsequently considered each individual within in my department and their current stage as well. My analysis of my school environment using these two models drove my decision to focus my attention and internship on the English department where conditions were more favorable. This decision allowed me to focus my attention where I had the greatest potential for success, but where I would still be able to reach every student as all students have to take English. |

As part of my technology plan, I devised a method and timeline for improving the quality of instruction in my school based on my analysis of the readiness of the school for change indicated by assessment of Ely's Eight Conditions for Change and the ACOT Model.
Once I identified the English department as the site of my effects, I began work on creating a shared mission and vision for our department, work that was aligned to Ely's Eight Conditions and which was intended to create greater buy-in and support from all stakeholders. The process of creating the shared mission and vision used Google Documents, which was one way that I was able to assess and confirm my assessment of each department member and their current stage in the ACOT Model. This helped to direct my instruction and the supports I provided to staff throughout this process. |
