This site is intended as both a portfolio for my Master's of Educational Technology coursework and a living and interactive site for regular use by both myself and my students. It is very much still a work in progress.
Biography: Jessica Stith is an English teacher at Forest Park High School in Baltimore, MD. She received a B.A. in English and a B.S. in Secondary Education from Ohio University in 2006. She became a certified A.P. teacher in 2012. In her time at Forest Park, she has taught English I, II, III and IV in both traditional and night school settings. She believes in the ability of all students to achieve success and has dedicated herself to working with at-risk students. In addition to teaching, she coached Forest Park's nationally competitive debate program from 2009-2017 and works as an instructional technology leader in her school.
Along with two of her colleagues, she presented "Addressing Skill Deficiencies in Urban Students" at the A.P. Annual Conference on Saturday, July 12, 2014.
She was honored by Baltimore City Community College in 2011 for teaching excellence and received the Joseph Spence Character award from Forest Park in the same year. She received the "Star Award" and "To Infinity and Beyond Award" from Forest Park High School in 2014 recognizing her contributions to the students and school, as well as teaching excellence. She was also recognized as the Teacher of the Class by the class of 2014. She was a semi-finalist for Baltimore City Public Schools Teacher of the Year in SY 2016-2017.
In addition to her school-based work, she has facilitated district professional development for teachers of English IV and helped write and revise the district curriculum. She is currently one of the facilitators of the district Professional Development courses: "Independent Reading in the Secondary Content Area" and "Methods of Teaching the Adolescent Learner."
