Reflective Journal Stith by Jessica on Scribd |
Throughout ED 602, I had to keep a reflective journal of both what I was learning and how I was applying it. This came early in my program, and it helped me to structure my reflective process throughout the program.
It was in part due to this reflective process that I initially decided to use my IR course as the focus for my Online Facilitation Plan. I recognized that my course was not working as well as it could or I would like it to in its iteration and I wanted the opportunity to apply the strategies I was learning, such as the R2D2 model, to the course. I am well known for taking extensively notes in a book that I carry everywhere with me. Those notes, reflections and action steps served as the backbone of my process, timeline and reflection portions of my Internship. Without this reflective process, I would not have been able to meet my internship objectives because the format of my internship changed throughout its implementation. The reflective process allowed me to assess those changes, consider my objectives, and develop new courses of action. Going forward I intend to leverage the skills and technologies that I have learned throughout the program to help keep myself current with educational trends and research. One way that I am doing that is by participating in more Twitter chats with other educators from all over the world. This allows me to see what other educators are doing and/or trying and allows me to consider how incorporating that into my practice might change outcomes for my students. Another way I keep current with these trends and technologies is through listening to podcasts. I have several that I listen to regularly and through my listening I have been introduced to new authors, experts and techniques that I can use in my classroom. |
